Build-in-public post ideas from your GitHub repo
Enter a public repo. The tool reads its description, latest release, recent commits and star count from GitHub and turns them into post ideas, each with a draft to start from and the fact it came from.
Updated
Ideas show here, each with the fact it came from.
Crux's server asks GitHub's public API for the repo you enter, without any GitHub account, and keeps the answer in memory for up to 6 hours so repeat lookups do not ask GitHub again. To limit lookups, your network is counted for an hour by a keyed hash of its address, also only in memory. Nothing is written to a database, and commit authors are not kept.
How it works
Good build-in-public posts come from real work: a release, a feature, a run of fixes, a milestone, the reason you started. This tool reads those facts from a public GitHub repo through GitHub's public API and fills a set of post templates with them. Every figure in a draft comes from the repo, such as a star milestone the repo has actually passed. The parts only you can say, like why a change matters, are left as [[blanks]] to fill in.
Questions
Can it read private repos?
No. It asks GitHub's public API without signing in, so it only sees public repos. Crux itself can read private repos you choose, through its GitHub App.
What does it read from the repo?
The repo's name, description, main language, topics, star count and creation date, its latest published release, and the first line of its 30 most recent commits. It does not read code or diffs.
Why are there [[blanks]] in the drafts?
Some things are not in the repo: why a change matters, who it is for, what you learned. The drafts leave those for you instead of making them up.
Why did it say to try again later?
GitHub allows a limited number of public lookups an hour, so the tool limits how many new repos one address can look up and stops before GitHub's limit is spent. Repos looked up recently are answered from memory.
From one post to every push
Crux (cruxpost.com) watches the GitHub repos you choose. Each push, merged pull request or release becomes three drafts in your voice, checked the way this site’s tools check a post, and your coding agent can add why a change matters through the Crux plugin for Claude Code and Codex. Crux reads commit messages, pull request and release text and the names of changed files, never a diff. Post on X copies the draft you like and opens X with it, for you to post; on Autopilot, Crux posts only what you schedule. It reads each post at 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days, and learns which kinds of post work for your account only once a pattern beats chance.
